Yes, Wordpress can be used as a CMS. I have been using it as such for over a year now with some of our clients. They love the easy learning curve and when combined with some of the excellent themes, plugins, and widgets available... it makes for a very simple, yet flexible CMS.

Hi Honour Chick, thanks for the comment, good to see the first feedback is controversial.

I have to disagree with you though. There are many developers out there using Wordpress as a CMS and I'd argue that Wordpress has the core features of a good CMS including:

- The ability to create, edit and publish content
- Content taxonomy in the form of tags and categories
- User management including roles and security
- Basic workflow tasks to moderate feedback and submissions
- Storage of content in a structured repository
- A powerful templating system to allow design of complex sites
- Support for multiples access methods on the content - e.g RSS
- Extensibility in the form of a vast library of wordpress plugins

Agree or Disagree? We'd love to hear from you.
